In South Carolina two organizations, Palmetto Dramatic Association & SC Thespians, come together to create a high school theatre festival that encourage the development of quality Theatre in secondary schools. We encourage education, advocacy, fellowship, networking, and fun. At our festival, we host individual events- both performance and technical, workshops, performances of one acts, readings of original one acts, and play writing competition as well as fundraise for Broadway Cares and Send a Troupe.

Later in the Spring, SC Thespians sponsors the SC Junior Thespian festival in order to foster lifeskills with the up and coming theatre students in middle school.

Brandi Owensby
September 16, 1984 - January 12, 2025

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of a cherished member of our PDA/ SC Thespians family. Brandi's passion for theatre and especially her love of playwriting will forever inspire us. Our hearts go out to her beautiful family, husband Will and precious daughter- Rori, and the tenacious, resilient students of White Knoll who have lost their theatre mom and director- BO.
At the request of Brandi's family, the Palmetto Dramatic Association has established a memorial in Brandi's name. Monies collected will be used to create a cash award for the winner of the PDA Original One-Act competition which will now be called the Brandi Owensby Playwriting Award.
